The Sound of Rain

The Sound of Rain

I love the smell of a storm coming, especially when it's long overdo. I love the beauty of how ferocious they appear from a distance, giving you that sudden feeling of relief and concern at the same time. I love how you can smell the hot asphalt being cooled before it even gets to you, and how the wind manipulates the leaves and limbs on a swaying tree. But, even more than that, I love how a long yearned rain storm sounds on a tin roof at night.
It's a sound unlike anything else. At times it can get louder than the television, and interrupts the signal where all you can do is listen to the rain. It's funny how sometimes you should be paying more attention to that over the garbage on the tv anyways.
I love how the sound of rain on a tin roof can help you sleep at night even if it had been the worst day ever. It has this distinct soothing and comforting sound that makes you want to just stay in bed.
This is like the comfort of God in your life. A long overdo talk with God can seem to make all your biggest worries seem like molehills. But, you know, they seem to happen just in time, not really when we want, and not always when we think we need to, but when He feels we need to.
If you walk and talk with the Lord daily, then you a building a relationship that might bend but never break during the strongest of storms in your life. Now, if you only come to Him in the bad moments, He is there, but you are leaving room for Satan to put his foot in the door and make his way to attempt cutting in..
Like a good steady rain, God can wash away your stains and lift your burdens.
But allowing Satan in your life on a part time basis, is like a sudden afternoon sprinkle.. it may feel good for a moment, but it's usually not even enough to settle the dust, basically false hope based of a quick fix..
Sometimes with God and the rain, we don't really see the importance until we really need it, when things get dry in our lives and we see things withering.
Jesus said drink from His well and you'll thirst no more..
